Dry January is for detox and planning, February is for connecting. The Forest team brings you Connectuary!
Let’s be honest. With business stacks being so fragmented, data is a mess. Yours, like ours, is probably scattered across several databases, a CRM, a couple of SaaS (for CS, Product, Marketing...), a few internal systems and some can't-do-without external vendors.
An example? A customer we spoke to recently mentioned having core product data in PostgreSQL, user logs in DynamoDB, customer interactions in HubSpot, and payments in Stripe. And that's a simple example.
So data lives in many silos. Each has its own dashboard. And when you need to answer a simple question like "Did this VIP user pay their invoice before complaining to support?", you are alt-tabbing through three different tools.
Not really the definition of Efficiency.
So let us introduce CONNECTUARY!
It's the month to Connect Your Data - Yes all of it
Dry January is for detox and planning, February is for connecting.
We believe your internal tools shouldn’t care where the data comes from. They should just let you act on it. That’s why we’re pushing for connecting your backoffice to as many sources as necessary
If you haven't heard from Forest Admin in a long time, it is no longer just "a Postgres admin panel." It is the Unified Interface for all your operations, starting with centralized data.
1. DB - The Classics & The Newcomers
We’ve always handled SQL and NoSQL like champs. But we know modern stacks are polyglot. So we’ve added native support for Firebase, CosmosDB, and DynamoDB.
Real, CRUD-ready connections with all the goodness Forest Admin has brought to other databases before.
In the case of CosmosDB, we also believe we're opening a whole new world for Microsoft Azure's customers: you can leverage our node.js platform to delegate front and tooling design to operations teams, with top-secure roles and permissions. Nifty, right?
Oh, and did we mention that, of course, Forest Admin supports multiple datasources at once? It might be the right time to ask your CTO or Admin to set this other database you have on the side for that other key project, right into the Forest. Right?
2. The SaaS Layer
Your Ops team lives in HubSpot, Stripe and many other tools. Why force them to leave the Admin panel to check a deal status? We now treat many SaaS tools as datasources.
Pull info from HubSpot contacts right into your prod users detail section.
Trigger actions like a Stripe refund without leaving the user’s profile.
Or even pull firmographic data from D&B (or any provider really), straight into your workflow.
It’s not magic. It’s just sensible integration.
So, dear customer, if there is a SaaS you really need to bring into your Forest realm, let's talk!
3. The Future: AI & MCP
Here’s where it gets wild. Forest Admin is not just about getting all your data there. It's also making it available for your other tools and your AIs.
It's 2026, so you’re probably building AI agents or thinking about it. You want them to help with operations. But giving an LLM direct access to your prod DB is... terrifying, not practical and a compliance/GDPR no-go.
Enter the Forest Admin MCP Server. (MCP = Model Context Protocol. Think of it as a universal plug for AI).
By connecting your data to Forest Admin and opening it through MCP, you instantly give your AI agents a safe, governed way to access that data. You set the permissions in your Forest. The Agent respects them. Read only is read only: your data, your choice. And of course you get full audit trail.
The Bottom Line: connecting your data and making the most of it
Stop building internal tools for each data silo. Connect them all. Manage them once. And access them easily. It's a bit like a big elven ring to govern them all, but nice and helpful!
